my friend wants his iphone unlocked. it is a 3G 3.1.

is it possible to brick his phone if im not carefull? do i have to downgrade 1st? or is it just a simple operation?

also will he lose his songs if i upgrade the firmware and unlock it?

also all he wants to do is unlock it so he can use any network. he would also prefer to keep it as the current 3.1 firmware.

Well you can use blackra1n and after jailbreaking it open it from your iPhone and select Snow.
