Default Woman Killed and Brother Is Hurt on Bronx Highway

The siblings, Jennifer Sosa, 20, and Pedro Luis Sosa, 19, had climbed out of a crowded Chevrolet minivan that had been in a pileup, the authorities said. Shortly before 6 a.m., according to the police, they were struck by a Toyota Corolla. Ms. Sosa was pronounced dead at Jacobi Medical Center, where Mr. Sosa was uggs on sale reported in critical condition, the police said. The authorities blamed slick roads from the weekend storm for the two accidents, which involved nine vehicles. Fourteen other people were also hurt, six seriously. The police said no crimes were suspected. The Sosas, both Bronx residents, were traveling west on the Cross Bronx with eight other people when the first accident occurred, the police said. Emergency medical workers found them below the expressway, near Bruckner Boulevard and Brush Avenue, the police said. Elba Ventura, a cousin of the Sosas, called Ms. Sosa “the life of everything,” adding, “She was always so happy.” Ms. Ventura added that Ms. Sosa had a 1-year-old son, Jefferson. She said that another brother in the family had died a few years ago. Ms. Ventura also said that after the initial crash, ugg boots Ms. Sosa called her mother to say she was all right. Ms. Ventura and others gathered at Jacobi on Sunday evening. Ms. Sosa was a waitress at La Paz, a bar in Port Jefferson, N.Y., according to Stephanie Garcia, 25, another waitress there. Ms. Garcia said that Mr. Sosa was driving her as well as Ms. Sosa and several other people from Long Island before the accident occurred. Ms. Ventura and others described Mr. Sosa as a promising ugg boots clearance boxer who had competed in the Golden Gloves. “I still don’t believe it,” Ms. Ventura said. “You never expect the good people to go early.”
