Default Iphone In Massachusetts

Hi

First time here. I recently went to a cingular store in the acton area. I have to switch from verizon because the cervice. So I went in and asked about the Iphone. The reps were not very adament about having the iphone or selling it. They were stearing far clear from it. They also had said cingular wasn't getting the Iphone, and that is was just going to be at the apple store. As well they said apple and cingular were having problems with the free wifi, and that Att wants everyone to have a data plan. They said they were expecting tons of problems. I thought it was intersting what they were saying. Though i'm not taking anybodys word till it comes out. Felt like sharing my experience, now to find a phone to use for now at cingular.

Dont belive anything a phone rep says because they just say stuff to look like they are important. Neither Cingular or Apple have said anything about this thing since the Keynote speech.

Everyone is going to want a data plan anyways because nobody is around Wifi 24/7. At&t can't be mad about it having Wifi because otherwise the device would not sell.

Dont worry about not being able to get it. In the highly unlikely event that they dont have it  , you will be able to get it from cingular.com, apple.com, and the brick and mortar Apple stores its self.

And welcome to the forums. Post regulary

good points. I can't imagine the reps knowing more than apple. They are the best at not letting anyone know anything. I definetly think that Wifi is something that alot phones are going to get into next. I remember the time WAAyyyy back when bluetooth came on the scene. I'm also wondering if Apple will want to get into Wimax been reading about maybe the best thing ever.

Their next version will most likey have surport for a 3g network. I dont know where you live in Mass, but I doubt that you have 3g coverage in your area. I live in Minneapolis and I dont as well. They made the decision to go with EDGE because it has the most coverage in the U.S at this time. Dosent make sense to have only a handfull of people in cites be able to use the 3g with the iPhone. Once their is a large 3g coverage base in the U.S, Apple will make the switch. I will be more than happy with EDGE.

Right, I actually found out I have 3G avaliable in my area in mass. I just don't seem to have a verizon signal. I've had like 40 dropped calls a month. Luckily I get out of Verizon for No Fee. So I'm just going to wait till June then get into cingular. Though i don't know should i just switch now and get a free phone to get into cingular before the Iphone comes out?

When is your current contract up? You will most likey have to pay a term fee to get out of it. I would just wait intill June when the iPhone comes out to get it with a two-year, its gonna be the cheapest route.

Lucy me, I can get out whenever i want. I just moved to this area, and the signal is crappy with verizon. So they gave me this ticket thing on my account, and I can get when I want. I have alot of dropped calls and Verizon doesn't like that.

Precisely.... well said!

It's common place in retail sales to motivate the sales people to sell what they have. Not what's coming in down the road. It's also normal for the manufacturers not to share anything about their upcoming products with store employees. Even the sales staff at car dealers are not told anything in advance about new products as they have plenty of cars to get rid of before the new models arrive. So as ebrunn said, don't believe anything they say.
